Fuel Your Awesomeness
with Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods
I've been a huge fan of Bob's Red Mill for years - I started using their gluten free products and then switched over to their Coconut Flour and Almond Flour brand when I embraced a Paleo-style diet. And even though I don't strictly eat that way any more, I still rave about the brand. So when I got the opportunity to try out their new protein powders, I was all, "GIMME!!"
For those of you who are not familiar with Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods, produces more than 400 products, including a full line of certified gluten free products and an extensive line of certified organic products. With a wide variety of whole-grain products—from flours and hot cereals to baking mixes and grains—Bob’s Red Mill has “whole-grain foods for every meal of the day.” AnEmployee-Owned company, Bob’s Red Mill is the nation’s leader in stone milling and is dedicated to producing natural foods in the natural way. They stone grind all common and many uncommon grains into flours and meals on over one-hundred- year-old mills. With all of the sophisticated knowledge of recent times, no machinery has yet been developed that grinds grains into flour as well as these slow-turning, flint-hard quartz millstones of the kind used by millers since ancient times.
I get so excited when I get mail and quickly ripped into this box, which included:
- 4 different protein powders (Chocolate, Vanilla, Protein & Chai)
- 1 protein scooper (equivalent of 1/3 cup)
- Recipe booklet
- Fuel Your Awesomeness mixer bottle
I have an obsession with protein powders. I love trying out new flavors and brands, so I was eager to dive into the chocolate and vanilla flavored bags first. Naturally, I'm more a fan of the chocolate flavor, but the vanilla ain't too shabby either! If I was at home, I'd include 8-12 ounces of unsweetened almond milk, to make the texture of the shake a little thicker. But even on-the-go, right after the gym, or a quick refuel in between meals, some cold water did the trick just fine!
The mixer works very well, working out any protein 'chunks' that you can find floating around in your drink if your mixer bottle doesn't mix all that well.
I haven't tried the Protein or Chai bags yet, but I'm thinking of using those for baking as opposed to grabbing them as a drink on-the-go. Tune back in towards the end of the month where I'll share a fun recipe with Bob's Red Mill protein powders :)
